When you do something epic, give yourself an epic round of applause! Why not? The Six of Wands is often a symbol of personal victory, but it's not always as simple as that. A personal victory often comes with a change of perspective, a raising of personal standards and a great deal of responsibility to stand by what you've achieved and keep going forward. This is a time to work out how you fought the odds so that you can keep doing what you're doing to the best of your ability. It's also a time to stick with your personal principles, particularly if you're dealing with competitors or underhanded tactics. Not everyone will be pleased with your success and not everyone will come forward to congratulate you, but you must stay strong in your convictions and believe in your right to live life on your own terms.
The Six of Wands often signifies a time of overcoming opposition. This could be opposition from an individual or group, opposition from energies aligning against you, even opposition from your own limiting beliefs. It is a symbol of pushing forward despite adversity. Although this is an incredibly positive message, the card also asks you to be cautious. Don't lose yourself in your big moment. Keep your feet on the ground. Don't get lazy. Keep a steady pace and fix your eye on the next goal without becoming complacent or conceited. I often feel that this card presents us with an opportunity for self-analysis. Sometimes there's a great deal of nourishment in the time we spend looking at our own behaviours and responses. Does success corrupt you? Scare you? Inflate your ego? Make you hungry for more more more? Are you willing to make tough choices to get where you want to go? Are you prepared to carry other people to the finish line, even if it slows you down? Do you look for outside approval of your success? Or are you content with giving yourself credit? Maintaining a balanced perspective is paramount when this card comes around.
